SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!
Feeling or Emotion
In the novel Fall for Anything, the main character Eddie’s father, Seth Reeves recently committed suicide. She goes on a hunt to find some answers as to why he would do that and leave her and her mother. Upon her search, she meets Culler Evans who was someone that her father took on as an art student. Culler is also trying to find answers to Seth’s death, so they search together. While doing this, they find clues that he left behind: carvings in the wood of places he photographed and left behind in his art studio. There are six different paintings so six different clues that are all supposed to connect to his reason for taking his life.
They both travel together to find the places in his photographs but on the night before finding the last clue, Culler leaves Eddie stranded in a motel about 9 hours away from her home. Her best friend, Milo picks her up and she goes to the last location to find that the last clue has been scratched out. So on the way back home, they stop at Culler’s apartment to find answers because Eddie knows that he’s the one who scratched it out of the wood.
Culler finally tells her that he is the one who wrote the clues. His excuse was that he knew that Eddie really wanted answers to her father’s death and so did he. The only one he didn’t do was Seth’s initials “S.R.” at the place where he committed suicide. This tore Eddie apart because she thought that everything was finally coming together and she was going to make sense of it all.
My Opinion
When I read this part of the book, I literally gasped and put my hand up to my mouth (all dramatic.) I read the book in one day because I was so hooked by it and this was a total plot twist that I was definitely not expecting to happen. As Eddie did, I felt like my heart just broke for a second. I was so wrapped up in Eddie and Culler finding the answers to Seth’s death and the romance brewing between Eddie and Culler and then Eddie and Milo and that made the whole plot take a turn.
Although this part was a total surprise for me, I absolutely loved the novel. Fall for Anything has been added to my list of favorite books. It is my most favorite thing when I get so caught up in reading a book because it’s so intense and mysterious and then the author puts in a total twist of events in. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone (I already have.)
